Our Story
Scientist Academics was founded by respected physicist, educator, and educational outreach specialist, Dr. Veeshan Narinesingh, Ph.D. –more simply known as “Vee.” Dr. Vee is a Trinidadian-American, New York native formally trained in Physics and Education. Through over 10 years of volunteer and professional work, Dr. Vee has successfully mentored numerous students from a broad range of backgrounds on a variety of topics ranging from reading and writing to advanced mathematics and science, test preparation, and academic application processes. This is in addition to program development, where he has led projects such as mentoring programs for young people in Harlem, New York City to robust STEM programs combining golf, physics, and water resource activism. Scientist Academics grew out of a side-hustle delivering tutoring to the community of Riverdale in The Bronx, as well as taking on consulting jobs developing academic support programs for youth from New York City’s underserved communities. However, after great success and seeing the need for students of all backgrounds to be able to access better educational opportunities, Scientist Academics rose to serve more students by hiring and training top, thoroughly experienced educational professionals to mentor clients. At Scientist Academics, clients do not simply receive support –they become part of a community.
A Student-Centered, Mentorship Approach to Academic Preparation and Program Development
One of the secrets to success is mentorship. Most people who have been successful did not do it all on their own. At Scientist Academics, we take a student-centered, mentorship approach to academic coaching and preparation, as well as educational program development. For us, learning begins with developing strong relationships between the mentee (student) and the team of mentors (teachers) supporting them. Once that is established, the goal is to not just grow academically, but also personally – cultivating independent learners.
This philosophy is prevalent in our academic preparation work with individual students as well as in in consulting work offered by Scientist Academics in helping to develop robust programs serving young people.
